And then it was May ...

Welcome to May and our gorgeous inspiration photograph for this month.  I just love the colours of this sweet treat.  As always take inspiration from whatever ... well inspires you!  The colours, the cake itself, a memory from your past that involves cake or icing or overindulging or a messy accident, flowers, garden .... the list is endless.

CRITERIA - Flowers

Our team have some delightful pages to show you ...

DEB
I've created an art journal page "The Earth LAUGHS in Flowers". I was inspired by the beautiful colours of the frosting flowers in the picture, and replicated those colours in my flowers which I've created with ColourBurst.

PHILLIS
I was inspired by the cake to do a birthday page. I found these photos of my daughter from her last birthday and the flowered papers. I used my Tim Holtz stencil to add the purple flower to my background paper and added the flowers.

DI
As a tribute to my mum and Mother's Day, I have chosen this photo of the two of us taken on my wedding day, September 1st, 1973.  Mum loved roses, so I have used these, as well as other flowers, for this page. The colours taken from the inspiration photo include: pinks, green, white and blue. I have quilled some of the roses (the blue ones are from the inside of a business envelope) and the others were purchased. All of my journalling for this page has been written on the back as there was a fair bit to say.

KAREN
When I saw the inspiration photo for this month, I couldn't resist a fun and funky take on the FLOWERS theme. I took my daughter to see the Yayoi Kusama exhibit at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art a few years ago, and we loved the Flowers that Bloom at Midnight sculpture installation. I mixed up the patterns a bit, and used a striped base like the cake in the inspiration photo.

LYNNE
I was inspired to scrap one of my daughter's birthdays as well. I used the blue vertical stripes from the cake in my background paper, the pink from the flowers, and the random dots below the flowers became gems and pearls on my page.

REBECCA

I was inspired by the birthday cake and the dots. This is a photo of my husband and I celebrating our 3rd anniversary. I added dots throughout the page including stickles and texture paste (that I coloured using purple distress paint).

JANE
Inspired by the colours and vintage feel of this image.
